Digital Financial Inclusion and Economic Development in Bangladesh

Over the last decade, Bangladesh has transitioned from a cash-dependent society to a burgeoning digital economy. This research explores how Mobile Financial Services (MFS) and Agent Banking have become the backbone of financial inclusion, especially for the 170 million people where traditional banking infrastructure often falls short. The research indicates that a 10% increase in digital financial inclusion correlates with a 0.5-0.8% boost in GDP growth, primarily by empowering rural women and SMEs.
